Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 4/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the northern New South Wales coast and into Queensland. because of this strong high, a trough over the NSW inland is weakening but will be reinforced on Tuesday by another front. This front is forecast to bring rain to southern and western districts during Tuesday before weakening into a trough over the northeast on Wednesday. A vigorous cold outbreak looks likely over the state Friday/Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayThe chance of showers across the south, and on the far north coast, although mostly quite light. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, after early fog patches in the south and east. Northeast to northwest winds.Tuesday 6 SeptemberPartly cloudy in the northeast, with the chance of showers about the far north coast. Rain areas in the west, extending to central and southeastern districts through the day, and easing to showers later. Late snow showers on the southern alps. North east to northwesterly winds ahead of a gusty south to southwest change in the west.Wednesday 7 SeptemberIsolated showers in the east, clearing from the southeast early. Possible early snow showers on the southern alps. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine to the west. Southwest to southeast winds.Thursday 8 SeptemberIsolated showers developing, more likely over the northeast. Generally light and variable winds, with afternoon coastal sea breezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Monday.Product IDN10031
