Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 4/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the northern New South Wales coast, while a trough and associated cold front move across the state's inland. This front is expected to weaken and slip to the south overnight as its movement is impeded by the high. Another cold front is forecast to bring some precipitation to southern and western districts during Tuesday before weakening into a trough over the northeast on Wednesday. There are some indications that a more vigorous cold outbreak may affect the region at the end of the week.
Forecast for the rest of SundayThe chance of showers on the far north coast. Isolated showers across the southeast, mostly west of the tablelands. Possible thunderstorms over the southern inland. Fine elsewhere. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the east, tending west to southwesterly in the west.Monday 5 SeptemberThe chance of showers across the south, and on the far north coast, although mostly quite light. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, after early fog patches in the south and east. Northeast to northwest winds.Tuesday 6 SeptemberPartly cloudy in the northeast, with the chance of showers about the far north coast. Rain areas in the west, extending to central and southeastern districts through the day, and easing to showers later. Late snow showers on the southern alps. North east to northwesterly winds ahead of a gusty south to southwest change in the west.Wednesday 7 SeptemberIsolated showers in the east, clearing from the southeast early. Possible early snow showers on the southern alps. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine to the west. Southwest to southeast winds.Thursday 8 SeptemberIsolated showers developing, more likely over the northeast.
