The high will maintain its intensity as it drifts a little further east over the Tasman Sea, directing a moister onshore flow onto the southeast and Capricornia coasts. The combination of moist winds and the upper level trough will result in increasing cloud and showers over these areas, extending into the adjacent inland during the day. Fresh to strong SE winds will continue along the tropical coast with isolated to scattered showers expected. Isolated afternoon and evening showers will also occur over the eastern interior. Remaining fine over western Queensland. Forecast for Tuesday The high is expected to weaken near New Zealand with the ridge relaxing along the east Queensland coast. Isolated showers are expected to continue about the east coast in the onshore flow, tending scattered between about Bowen and Fraser Island. Isolated afternoon and evening showers again over the eastern interior. A surface trough is expected to move over southwest Queensland, and combined with another upper trough over western New South Wales is expected to increase cloud over this region but with little or no rain. Remaining fine over the rest of western Queensland. Fresh to strong winds along the north tropical coast. Light to moderate SW to SE winds elsewhere. Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday The high is expected to move to the east of New Zealand, with the ridge weakening and winds easing along the north tropical coast. Isolated showers along the tropical coast are expected to clear by Thursday. The surface trough is expected to move across the interior during Wednesday with only isolated showers and possible thunderstorms ahead of it over southern districts. A more significant surface and upper trough is expected to move over the southern interior during Thursday, with showers and isolated thunderstorms likely over southern and southeast Queensland, clearing offshore overnight. Fine across the state on Friday with drier W to SW winds over most areas. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST Saturday.
