MELBOURNE - Aug 31/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is centred over western Victoria while a weak cold front is expected to pass through Bass Strait this morning. The high will move southeastwards, reaching the Tasman Sea Friday night where it will remain until early next week. A weakening cold front will cross Victoria on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayDrizzle patches in the south, contracting to the coast during the afternoon then to Gippsland during the evening. Fine and mostly sunny over the north. Early fog and frost patches then cool to mild with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Friday 2 SeptemberFine apart from morning fog patches in the east. Early frost patches then a cool to mild day with light winds tending moderate to fresh north to northeasterly. Afternoon seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Saturday 3 SeptemberA mild and mostly sunny day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds, strong at times in the west and about the ranges.Sunday 4 SeptemberPatchy rain extending across the State from the west.
