Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 31/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge extends from the southern Bight towards Lord Howe island, with a high pressure centre over western Victoria. This high will drift slowly east, reaching the western Tasman Sea by Friday. It is then expected to remain to the west of new Zealand until Tuesday with a persistent ridge extending from this high over New South Wales. Later in the weekend, a cold front is expected to approach from the west, but its impact on NSW is expected to be small due to the residual strong ridge. Another stronger front is likely to affect the state Tuesday through Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated coastal showers, chiefly about the central coast during the morning, and the northern coast in the afternoon and evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds.Friday 2 SeptemberIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges contracting northwards, tending scattered in the north and possibly extending to the northwest slopes. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Saturday 3 SeptemberIsolated showers about the central and northern coasts, tending scattered in the north. Fine elsewhere. North to northeasterly winds.Sunday 4 SeptemberIsolated showers in the far northeast. Isolated showers or light patchy rain developing in the southwest and extending through southern districts to the south coast during the day. Fine remainder. Northwest to northeasterly winds ahead of a west to southwesterly change spreading through the southern inland and far western areas.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDN10031
