Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 25/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will clear eastern districts tonight. A high pressure system forming at the head of the Bight will extend a ridge across Victoria during Friday and over the weekend. A cold front will approach southwest Victoria late Sunday and will cross the State Sunday night and during Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers over Gippsland. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts contracting to the southwest coast tonight. Dry over the northern plains. Northerly winds in the far east at first, but west to southwest winds elsewhere easing from the west.Friday 26 AugustLocal morning fog and frost. Isolated showers near the coast and developing over the Southwest and Wimmera districts during the afternoon but fine elsewhere. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with generally light winds.Saturday 27 AugustLocal morning fog and frost then fine apart from isolated showers over the southwest. Cool to mild with light to moderate northwest to westerly winds.Sunday 28 AugustIsolated showers over the southwest and during the afternoon but fine elsewhere during the day. Showers increasing about the southwest coast at night and extending to adjacent districts. Mild with moderate northwest winds, freshening in the southwest.Monday 29 AugustScattered showers extending to most districts, although dry over the far northwest. Cool with fresh southwesterly winds extending throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Friday.Product IDV10310
