Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 24/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will reach southwestern Victoria this morning then move eastwards across the State during the day. A high pressure system will develop north of the Bight on Friday and Saturday, extending a ridge across Victoria. The next cold front will approach Victoria late Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayLocal early morning fog in the east then a fine, mild to warm and sunny day with strengthening northerly winds ahead of a cooler, gusty west to southwesterly change reaching the southwest during the morning. The change will then extend eastwards during the day. Scattered showers developing over southern and mountain districts with and following the change, isolated near the ranges in the north.Friday 26 AugustFine apart from isolated morning showers in far east Gippsland and isolated showers in the southwest and near the coast. Cool to mild with light to moderate west to southwest winds tending northwesterly during the day.Saturday 27 AugustFine apart from isolated showers in the southwest and the chance of showers about the northeast ranges. Cool to mild with light to moderate northwest to westerly winds.Sunday 28 AugustFine apart from isolated showers developing about the southwest. Mild with moderate northwest winds, freshening in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
