Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 24/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over NSW will drift eastwards over the Tasman Sea this evening, while a cold front entering the Bight will reach southwest Victoria Thursday morning before extending eastwards across the state during the day. Another high pressure system will develop near Adelaide on Friday and Saturday, extending a ridge across Victoria. The next cold front will cross south of the Bight to approach Victoria late Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayClear. Moderate northerly winds, lighter in the east with local seabreezes along the Gippsland coast at first.Thursday 25 AugustLocal early morning fog patches in the east. Fine and sunny with freshening northerly winds ahead of a cooler, gust west to southwesterly change reaching the southwest during the morning then extending eastwards during the day to reach the far east at night. Scattered showers developing over southern and mountain districts following the change.Friday 26 AugustFine apart from isolated showers clearing in the morning from east Gippsland and isolated showers in the southwest and near the coast. Cool to mild with light to moderate west to southwest winds tending northwest during the day.Saturday 27 AugustFine apart from isolated showers in the southwest and the chance about the northeast ranges. Cool to mild with light to moderate northwest to westerly winds.Sunday 28 AugustFine apart from isolated showers developing about the southwest. Mild with moderate northwest winds, freshening in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
