Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 23/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the NSW south coast and a low pressure trough lies over the Coral Sea. A southeast airstream over the northern New South Wales coast, between these systems, will lead to shower activity along the north coast through Thursday. Another trough is expected to deepen gradually over the northern and eastern parts of the state from Friday onwards, generating showers in the vicinity.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges, scattered in the far northeast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Early fog areas and frost patches in the east. Southeast to northeast winds, strong along the far north coast. Dangerous surf in the far north, easing.Thursday 25 AugustIsolated showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges, scattered in the far north but easing. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Early fog and frost patches in the east. Southeast to northeast winds tending north to northwest in the southwest ahead of a late southwesterly change.Friday 26 AugustFine in the west and south. Isolated showers possible over the northeast. South to southeast winds extending throughout.Saturday 27 AugustScattered showers about the northeast. Possible isolated showers in the southeast. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to southerly winds through most of the state though north to northeast winds in the northeast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
