Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 22/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong slow-moving high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to northwestern New South Wales and a low pressure trough lies over the Coral Sea. A southeast airstream over the northern New South Wales coast, between these systems, will lead to quite widespread shower activity along the north coast until about Wednesday. A trough may develop over the inland north by Friday and trigger showers across northeastern parts mostly into the new week.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers along the northern coast and adjacent ranges, possibly heavy at times with thunder in the far northeast. Isolated showers about central parts of the coast and adjacent ranges, mostly light and during the morning. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Early fog and frost patches in the southeast. Southeast to northeast winds, strong along the far north coast. Dangerous surf in the far north.Wednesday 24 AugustIsolated showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges tending scattered on the far north coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds. Dangerous surf in the far north.Thursday 25 AugustIsolated showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges tending scattered on the far north coast. Possible isolated afternoon showers over the central north. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds tending north to northwest in the southwest ahead of a late southwesterly change.Friday 26 AugustFine in the southwest.
