Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 22/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system centred east of Bass Strait extends a ridge westwards across Victoria and will move slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea during the week. A cold front will approach from the west on Tuesday, but weaken and slide away to the southeast on Tuesday night. A stronger cold front will reach the Bight during Wednesday before moving eastwards to cross Victoria during Thursday. On Friday a high pressure system will be centred near Adelaide and will extend a ridge across Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of MondayFine. Generally light northerly winds.Tuesday 23 AugustFine after morning fog patches in the east. Early frosts in the north then a mild and mostly sunny day with moderate northerly winds, lighter in the east with afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 24 AugustFine after morning fog and frost patches, mainly in the east. Mild and mostly sunny with moderate northerly winds, lighter in the east with afternoon seabreezes.Thursday 25 AugustIsolated showers developing over the south, mainly near the coast. Fine over the north. Mild with freshening northwesterly winds ahead of a cooler southwesterly change developing from the west.Friday 26 AugustFine apart from isolated showers in the southwest and near the coast.
