A low [1014 hPa] over the Tasman Sea is expected to move northwards during the weekend. A surface trough over southeast Queensland will move north along the southern Queensland coast on Sunday. A broad high [1037 hPa] centred to the east of Tasmania is moving into the southern Tasman Sea and is expected to strengthen during the next few days. Forecast for the rest of Saturday Isolated showers over the far southeast of the state tending scattered about the Border Ranges and Gold Coast. Fine elsewhere. Light to moderate S to SE winds, fresh at times about the north tropical coast. Fresh to strong S to SE winds along the far southern coast. Forecast for Sunday Showers will become scattered about the southeast with possible isolated thunderstorms, extending into the Wide Bay and Burnett during the day. More isolated showers and thunderstorms will extend inland into the southern and southeastern interior during the afternoon. Fine conditions elsewhere. Fresh to strong S to SE winds along the southern Queensland coast. Early morning frost areas over the central interior and possibly about the southern Atherton Tablelands. A very high fire danger is expected in the Central West. Forecast for Monday The upper low moves slowly north towards the central Queensland coast. The surface trough continues to move north towards southern tropical waters increasing shower activity about the eastern Queensland coast with isolated thunderstorms likely as well. Isolated showers and possible afternoon thunderstorms over the central and southeast interior. The high in the southern Tasman Sea will maintain a ridge over the rest of Queensland with fine conditions prevailing. Strong S to SE winds are likely for the central and southern Queensland coasts. Isolated showers elsewhere along the east coast, while the strong high in the Tasman Sea maintains a ridge across the rest of the state with fine conditions prevailing. Forecast for Wednesday The upper low should start to move slowly eastwards off the central coast but will maintain unsettled conditions about the central and southeast districts. Widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely to continue about the central coast and parts of the southeast of the state but there is considerable uncertainty in the exact location of the upper low and surface trough. Confidence in the forecast is therefore low. Strong coastal winds will persist about the central and southern coast. Isolated showers are expected elsewhere about the east coast. Fine conditions elsewhere. Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday The upper low should move slowly south or east and weaken late in the week. Continued unsettled conditions will result in showers and isolated thunderstorms about the central and southern Queensland coast and adjacent inland areas. Isolated showers elsewhere along the eastern Queensland coast. A new surface trough is likely to enter the southwest of the state on Friday and Saturday with a band of showers and possible thunderstorms likely to extend to southwestern parts of the state.
