Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 19/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low developing over the western Tasman Sea in response to an upper level system is forecast to move gradually northwards during the weekend. In combination with a high strengthening to the south, this system is directing a vigorous south to southeasterly airstream with showers onto the New South Wales coast. A high pressure ridge will build over the state's south and west over the next day or two, restoring fine conditions to areas inland of the Divide, and shifting the shower activity to the northern coast.
Forecast for the rest of Friday
Isolated showers along the coast and ranges, tending more widespread and possibly heavy about central parts of the coast. Generally fine west of the Divide, apart from the chance of showers on western slopes early in the evening. Isolated snow showers about the higher parts of the southern ranges. Southeast to southwest winds, fresh to strong and gusty in the east, locally reaching gale force about coastal parts of the Sydney metropolitan and Hunter districts.
Dangerous surf conditions, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, surfing and rock fishing, are expected to develop from Illawarra to the north later on Friday.
