Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 16/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high in the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the east
Queensland coast. The high will move slowly to the southeast while maintaining
the ridge along the east Queensland coast over the next couple of days. A trough
moving eastwards across Western Australia will enter western Queensland on
Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Isolated showers along the northeast Queensland coast, tending scattered
between Cape Flattery and Cairns this morning. Fine over the remainder of the
state, with warm daytime temperatures across western Queensland. Early fog
patches in the east, chiefly about the Wide Bay and Burnett district. Light to
moderate SE winds along the east coast, fresh at times north of Mackay. Light to
moderate NE to NW winds elsewhere.
Forecast for Wednesday
A trough will enter the far west of the state during the morning and move
eastwards across inland Queensland during the day. Isolated showers and possible
afternoon thunderstorms over the southern interior. Isolated showers across the
southeast and also along the remainder of east Queensland coast. Fine over the
remainder of the state, with warm daytime temperatures across western
Queensland.
Forecast for Thursday
The trough will move over eastern Queensland during the day and later into
the tropics. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms across southeast.
Isolated showers along the northeast Queensland coast. Fine over the remainder
of the state, with cooler daytime temperatures across western Queensland.
Forecast for Friday
A low is expected to develop off the New South Wales coast and move northeast
into the northern Tasman Sea while an upper trough will move across southeast
Queensland. A high will otherwise develop over southern Australia and extend a
ridge across much of Queensland. Isolated showers across the southeast, chiefly
during the afternoon. Fine over the remainder of the state. A cool morning over
inland areas.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday
The low is expected to become slow moving over the northern Tasman Sea while
an upper trough should remain over southeast Queensland. The high will
strengthen and move into the southern Tasman while extending a ridge across much
of Queensland. Isolated showers across the southeast, chiefly near the coast.
Generally fine over the remainder of the state apart from isolated showers
redeveloping along remaining parts of the east Queensland coast.

Tuesday.
