Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 15/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high to the south of Tasmania extends a weak ridge along the east coast of
Queensland. The high should maintain the ridge over the next few days.  A
surface trough will enter the state from the west on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Isolated showers about parts of the northeast coast. Fine elsewhere. Light to
moderate SE winds along the east coast, fresh at times north of St Lawrence.
Light to moderate SE to NE winds elsewhere.
Forecast for Tuesday
Isolated showers about parts of the northeast and central coast. Fine
elsewhere. Possible early frost about the Granite Belt, with warm daytime
temperatures about western districts Light to moderate SE winds along the east
coast, fresh at times in the north. Light to moderate SE to NE winds elsewhere
tending N to NW in the far west.
Forecast for Wednesday
A trough will enter the far west of the state during the morning and move
eastwards across inland Queensland during the day. Isolated showers and
afternoon thunderstorms over the southern interior. Isolated showers across the
southeast and also along the remainder of east Queensland coast. Fine over the
remainder of the state, with warm daytime temperatures across western
Queensland.
Forecast for Thursday
The trough will move over the eastern districts during the day, generating
isolated showers and possible thunderstorms across the southeast. Drier air
should limit the shower activity along the rest of the east coast, but some
isolated showers are still possible about the northeast. Fine over the remainder
of the state, with cooler daytime temperatures across western Queensland.
Forecast for Friday
The trough will pass off the coast during the morning, with cooler and drier
SW to SE winds pushing through the state. An upper trough will keep instability
about the southeast, and along with a surface low about the northern Tasman Sea,
likely to generate some isolated showers. Fine elsewhere.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday
The low is expected to remain off the New South Wales coast. Isolated showers
possible about parts of the southeast. Generally fine elsewhere with cooler and
drier SW to SE winds, though some isolated showers are possible about the
northern east coast.

Tuesday.
