Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 14/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of Tasmania extends a ridge across eastern Victoria. A cold front approaching from the west will enter southwestern Victoria later Monday before slipping southeastwards. A stronger cold front will cross South Australia on Tuesday and Victoria on Wednesday introducing a colder southwesterly airflow. An associated low pressure system will cross northern Victoria on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayMostly fine. Isolated showers possible over the south. Light winds.Monday 15 AugustRain areas developing over the west during the morning as isolated showers develop over the northeast ranges. Rain extending to central districts and northeastern ranges during the afternoon and evening. Morning fog patches in the east. Cool to mild with light to moderate northerly winds, freshening in the southwest.Tuesday 16 AugustRain areas, mainly in the west, extending to central districts later. A cool to mild day with a freshening northerly wind.Wednesday 17 AugustRain areas, widespread over the eastern ranges with locally heavy falls, and a fresh to strong northerly wind ahead of a colder, gusty southwesterly change extending from the west. Showers following the change and the chance of thunderstorms developing in the west. Snowfalls lowering to 1200 metres by Wednesday night.Thursday 18 AugustEarly rain in the east. Scattered showers to follow in southern and mountain areas with isolated showers over the northern plains. Snowfalls to 1200 metres. Cool with a moderate to fresh west to northwesterly wind tending southwesterly during the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Monday.Product IDV10310
