MELBOURNE - Aug 14/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high south of Tasmania extends a ridge along the east Queensland coast. The high is expected to drift slowly south over the next few days. A weak upper trough will pass over southeast Queensland today, and another across southern Queensland around mid week. Forecast for the rest of Sunday Isolated showers along the central and southeast Queensland coasts. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms developing over the southeast interior. Light to moderate NE to SE winds, fresh at times over the far northeast coast. Forecast for Monday The high will drift a little eastwards over the southern reaches of the Tasman sea while continuing to extend a ridge along the east Queensland coast. Fine over most of the state, except for some isolated showers about the central and northeast coast. Early morning frost areas about the southeast interior. Forecast for Tuesday The high should remain over the southern Tasman Sea while continuing to extend a ridge along the east Queensland coast. Fine again over most of the state, except for some isolated showers parts of the east coast. Warm daytime temperatures across western Queensland, but early frost patches are still possible about the Granite Belt. Forecast for Wednesday A surface trough will enter the far west of the state during the morning and move eastwards across inland Queensland during the day. Isolated showers and possible afternoon thunderstorms over the southern interior. Isolated showers about the southeast and also along the north tropical coast in a light to moderate onshore wind flow. Fine over the remainder of the state, with warm daytime temperatures across western Queensland. Early frost patches possible about the Granite Belt. Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday The trough will move over the eastern districts during Thursday, and there is just the chance of some isolated thunderstorms over the southeast as it passes over. Some lingering instability may allow showers to form later in the week over the southeast. Fine over the rest of the state, except for some isolated showers about the remainder of the east coast.
