Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 13/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high centred to the southwest of Tasmania extends a ridge across eastern New South Wales, while an upper level trough approaches the west of the state. During Sunday the high will move to the southern Tasman Sea and the ridge will weaken as the upper trough moves to eastern NSW. The destabilising influence of the trough should see showers develop through most eastern districts during the day tomorrow with the possibility of thunder. The high is expected to strengthen and become slow-moving over the Southern Tasman early next week, maintaining a ridge near the NSW coast. An active cold front is forecast to cross the state Wednesday, with rain areas west of the ranges, particularly over southern and central parts. Computer guidance suggests a low may form along the NSW coast or over the Tasman Sea late next week.

Light to moderate southeasterly winds along the coast and light variable winds inland.Sunday 14 AugustIsolated showers developing about the coast, ranges, and western slopes in the north, with the possibility of afternoon thunder.
