Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 12/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system is moving away across the Tasman Sea, while a high pressure system south of W.A extends a broad ridge across to Tasmania . The high will build south of the Bight today and extend a ridge northwards to Victoria. The high will move slowly eastwards to be southwest of Tasmania by Sunday with the ridge also moving eastwards across the state. A cold front will then cross the Bight before slipping to the southeast, just brushing the southwest of the state on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers over Gippsland, contracting east and clearing during the day. Areas of morning fog and frost elsewhere, clearing to a fine and mainly sunny day. A cool day with generally light winds.Saturday 13 AugustAreas of morning fog and frost. A generally fine and cool day, although cloud increasing in the west with the chance of some light showers developing over the northwest during the afternoon. Light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Sunday 14 AugustMorning fog patches. A generally fine day, although the chance of isolated showers developing over the southwest and northeast ranges during the afternoon. Cool to mild with light northerly winds and local afternoon seabreezes about the Gippsland coast.Monday 15 AugustRain areas developing in the southwest and patchy rain or isolated showers extending to northern and central areas later in the day. Cool to mild with light to moderate north to northeast winds, freshening in the southwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.Product IDV10310
