Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 10/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak ridge extends through central Australia and into the Queensland
interior. A surface trough will move eastwards from southwestern Queensland and
moving off the east coast on Thursday. An upper trough will amplify over
southern Queensland. A high over the Southern Ocean will extend a ridge across
western Queensland on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday
Very isolated showers are possible over the southern interior. Fine
conditions over the remainder of the state.  Generally light to moderate SW to
SE winds over the tropics. Light to moderate N to NW winds elsewhere ahead of a
fresh and gusty W to SW change over western Queensland. A very high fire danger
in the Northwest, Central West and Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders
districts.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms are expected over the southern
interior and southeast districts before moving offshore in the evening. Fine
conditions and a cooler day over the remainder of the state. Early morning frost
patches about the southeast inland areas. A very high fire danger in
Capricornia.
Forecast for Friday
The high over the Southern Ocean will extend a ridge across much of
Queensland, with fine conditions expected across the state. A weak trough will
move north along the New South Wales coast and approach the southeastern
Queensland border. Early morning frost about central, southern and southeastern
inland areas. A cool to cold morning is expected in the tropics.
Forecast for Saturday
The trough will continue to move northwards along the east Queensland coast
and will cause isolated showers to develop along the southeast coast. The high
will move slowly eastwards to the south of Tasmania and intensify while
extending a ridge across western Queensland, maintaining fine conditions over
the remainder of the state. An upper level trough will amplify over western
Queensland. Early morning frost will occur about central, southern and
southeastern inland areas. A cool to cold morning is expected in the tropics.
Forecast for Sunday
The high move into the Tasman Sea extending a ridge over Queensland directing
an onshore wind flow and isolated showers onto the east Queensland coast.  The
upper trough will move across the eastern half of the state with isolated
afternoon showers about the southeast interior. Early morning frost areas will
occur about Darling Downs and Granite Belt, and into the central interior.
Outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
The now almost stationary high pressure in the Tasman Sea will extend a ridge
along the Queensland coast with isolated showers about the east Queensland
coast. Fine conditions and cool mornings are expected over the remainder of the
state.

Thursday.
