Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 10/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system just east of Bass Strait is combining with a high pressure system south of Tasmania to bring a southeasterly wind flow across the state. The low will move slowly eastwards over the Tasman Sea during Thursday. The next high pressure system will build south of the Bight on Friday and extend a ridge northwards to Victoria. The high will move slowly eastwards to be southwest of Tasmania by Sunday with the ridge also moving eastwards across the state.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain over central and eastern areas with local heavy falls Gippsland. Cloudy with scattered showers elsewhere. Snowfalls above 1300 metres. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, strong about the central and Gippsland coasts.Thursday 11 AugustRain in the east with heavy falls at first over Gippsland, easing to showers during the afternoon. Cloudy over the remainder with isolated showers or areas of drizzle, clearing during the morning in the west and during the afternoon over central areas. Snowfalls above 1600 metres. Cool with moderate to fresh south to southeast winds, strong at first over Gippsland.Friday 12 AugustIsolated showers over Gippsland, contracting east and clearing during the day. Fine elsewhere after morning fog patches in the south. A cool and mainly sunny afternoon with generally light winds.Saturday 13 AugustLocal morning fog. A generally fine and cool day, although the chance of some light showers over the west during the afternoon. Light winds.Sunday 14 AugustMorning fog patches. Isolated showers over central and eastern parts, fine and mainly sunny in the west.
