Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 9/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad area of low pressure over eastern Bass Strait will gradually move eastwards over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday and Thursday. A high pressure system will develop to the southwest of Tasmania on Thursday before moving slowly east to be just southeast of Tasmania late Friday and Saturday with a ridge northwards to eastern Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers, mostly in the south, tending to rain about the coast. Snowfalls down to 1100 metres. Cool to cold with light to moderate northwest to southwesterly winds.Wednesday 10 AugustRain extending over central and eastern areas with possible heavy falls in Gippsland. Snowfalls above 1300 metres. Scattered showers elsewhere. Local early fogs in the northeast. Cool to cold with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, freshening on the coast.Thursday 11 AugustWidespread rain in the far east, easing to showers. Scattered showers over remaining central and eastern districts but only isolated showers in the west and on the northern plains. Snowfalls above 1600 metres. Cool with moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Friday 12 AugustIsolated showers in the east, clearing. Fine elsewhere. Cool with generally light winds.Saturday 13 AugustLocal morning fog. A generally fine and cool day, although the chance of some light showers over the west during the afternoon.
