Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 9/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system is located over waters just southeast of the state. It is expected to move very slowly east-northeast and intensify on Wednesday and Thursday, before moving away towards New Zealand on Friday. An upper level cold pool will affect eastern NSW today, particularly central and northern parts where some snow is expected about the higher parts of the ranges. A high pressure ridge will move over western NSW Friday then over the east on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers over the eastern half, less likely along the coast and in the south, and clearing from most districts through the evening. The chance of light snow showers on higher parts of the Central and Northern Tablelands, and on the Southern ranges. West to southwest winds.Wednesday 10 AugustPatchy rain over the western inland, increasing to rain areas in the southwest before easing later. The chance of showers on the western slopes of the ranges, chiefly in the afternoon. Isolated showers on the south coast and ranges, becoming scattered in the evening. Snow showers on the Alps. Fine elsewhere. Chiefly west to southwest winds.Thursday 11 AugustIsolated showers in the south and east, falling as snow on the higher Alps. Showers becoming scattered about the southern coast. The chance of afternoon showers over the northern and central inland. Southwest to southeast winds.Friday 12 AugustIsolated showers along the coast and the adjacent eastern ranges, tending scattered along parts of the coastal fringe. Fine to the west. Light and variable winds in the western inland, southerly winds elsewhere.Saturday 13 AugustIsolated showers along most of the coast, and the chance of showers over the far western inland. Fine elsewhere. Mostly southeast to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
