Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 8/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad area of low pressure is over Victoria with the main centre now lying just off the southern New South Wales coast. This complex low will persist on Tuesday and Wednesday morning with the main centre oscillating around the far east of Bass Strait before steadily moving eastwards across the Tasman Sea on Thursday. A high pressure system will develop to the south of Tasmania on Thursday before moving northwards towards eastern Victoria on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers, falling as snow above 1000 metres. The chance of thunderstorms in the east. Mainly light winds.Tuesday 9 AugustLocal morning fogs in the east. Scattered showers, more isolated in the east but tending to rain in the morning about some western and central areas. Snowfalls down to 1100 metres. Cool to cold with light to moderate northwest to southwesterly winds.Wednesday 10 AugustRain extending over central and eastern areas with possible heavy falls in Gippsland. Snowfalls above 1200 metres. Scattered showers further west and north, becoming isolated in the northwest. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds.Thursday 11 AugustWidespread rain in the far east, easing to showers. Scattered showers over remaining central and eastern districts but only isolated showers in the west. Snowfalls above 1500 metres. Cool with moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Friday 12 AugustIsolated showers in the east, clearing. Fine elsewhere.
