Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 8/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system is located over the waters just southeast of the state. It is expected to move very slowly eastwards and intensify on Wednesday, before moving towards New Zealand on Thursday. The exact position of the low over the Tasman Sea remains uncertain. A trough is expected to linger over New South Wales, accompanied by an upper cold pool.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Fine in the northwest and far northeast. Isolated showers remainder, tending scattered over parts of the southeast and falling as snow on the Alps. Possible thunderstorms about the southern inland of the Mid North Coast district. Local snow/sleet on the higher parts of the Central Tablelands and Barrington Tops. West to southwest winds.
Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.
Tuesday 9 AugustIsolated showers over the eastern half, less likely along the coast and mostly clearing by evening. Snow on the Alpine areas, and also possible on the higher parts of the Central and Northern Tablelands. West to southwest winds.Wednesday 10 AugustIsolated showers over the south and east, tending scattered in the far southeast and falling as snow on the higher Alps. Chiefly west to southwest winds elsewhere.Thursday 11 AugustIsolated showers in the south and east, falling as snow on the higher Alps. West to southwest winds in the north, southwest to southeast winds in the south.Friday 12 AugustIsolated showers along the coast and the adjacent eastern ranges. Fine to the west. Light and variable winds in the western inland, south to southeasterly winds along the coast and in the northeast inland.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
