Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 7/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad low pressure system is located over Victoria. A second more intense low pressure centre will move westwards across central Bass Strait this evening and then northeast over western Victoria before weakening on Monday. The main low will then deepen off the New South Wales south coast early Tuesday and then move away to the southeast later Wednesday and during Thursday. A high pressure system will build over the Bight later Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers tending to rain areas in the northeast, and over the southwest tonight. Isolated thunderstorms at first this evening. Snowfalls down to 1100 metres. Generally light variable winds.Monday 8 AugustRain areas extending through western districts during the morning. Scattered showers over the remainder, mostly during the afternoon and increasing to rain over southern Gippsland in the evening. Snowfalls down to 1100 metres. Cool to cold with generally moderate southeasterly to southwest winds, freshening about the Gippsland coast.Tuesday 9 AugustRain areas extending through central and southwest parts of the state, grading to isolated showers in the west and far east. Snowfalls down to 1200 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, strong at times about the coast.Wednesday 10 AugustRain extending through southern areas with moderate falls over Gippsland. Scattered showers over the northeast and west, although only isolated in the northwest. Snow on the ranges above 1400 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southeast winds, strong about the Gippsland coast.Thursday 11 AugustIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, scattered in the southeast at first but contracting to the southeast and southwest during the day. Chance of a shower in the northwest. Snowfalls on the ranges above 1700 metres. Cool in the south with moderate to fresh east to southeast winds.
