Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 6/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad low pressure system over Victoria will drift slowly eastwards today. A second more intense low pressure centre developing near Flinders Island this morning will move westwards across central Bass Strait towards King Island tonight and near Portland early Monday as it weakens. The main low will then deepen off the New South Wales south coast Monday night and move slowly eastwards during Tuesday. Another low pressure system will develop over the Bight later Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers over the north and near the coast, extending to remaining areas by early afternoon and tending to areas of rain over the southwest tonight. Isolated thunderstorms mainly during the afternoon and evening. Snowfalls down to 1100 metres. Cool to cold with generally light variable winds.Monday 8 AugustScattered showers on and south of the ranges, more widespread at first in the southwest and increasing later along the Gippsland coast. Isolated afternoon showers possible over the northern plains. Snowfalls down to 1100 metres. Cool to cold with generally moderate southeasterly to southwest winds, freshening about the Gippsland coast.Tuesday 9 AugustScattered showers in the east and south, tending to rain areas over Gippsland. Isolated afternoon showers in the west and mainly fine in the northwest. Snowfalls to 1200 metres, rising to 1400 metres. Cool in the south, milder over the northern plains. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, strong at times about the coast.Wednesday 10 AugustScattered showers on and south of the ranges, tending to rain areas over Gippsland. Isolated showers possible in the northwest, mainly afternoon. Snow on the ranges above 1500 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
