Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 6/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high [1027 hPa] over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge over the east coast of
Queensland. The high is expected to move slowly east and weaken over the next
couple of days. A surface trough in the southwest will move eastwards across
southern Queensland before moving offshore during Monday.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Isolated showers in the east and south, tending to scattered showers about
the north tropical coast. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the
southwest and southern interior. Light to moderate SE to NE winds about eastern
parts, tending fresh at times in the north. Light to moderate NE to NW winds
over the interior, becoming S to SW behind the trough.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers about the east coast, tending scattered along the north
tropical coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the southern and
southeast interior, mostly during the afternoon. Isolated showers elsewhere
about the eastern and central interior. Mostly moderate SE to NE winds about the
state's northeast, tending NE to NW'ly about the southeast. Cooler, light to
moderate SW to SE winds about the western parts of the state behind the
trough.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers about the southeast early during Monday should clear as the
surface trough moves offshore later in the day. Dry and cooler southwest winds
spreading across the interior, and eventually allowing the showers over the
remainder of the east coast to clear by the evening. Possible showers about the
southeast border areas in the afternoon. Isolated showers along the northern
east coast. Areas of early morning frost about the southeast and central
interior.
Forecast for Tuesday
A ridge over central Australia should maintain a cool and dry SE to SW air
flow over Queensland. Fine throughout the state, with early morning frosts about
the central, southern and southeast inland areas.
Forecast for Wednesday
A ridge over central Australia should maintain a cool and dry SE to SW air
flow over Queensland. Fine throughout the state, with early morning frosts about
the central, southern and southeast inland areas.
Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Stable conditions through the state with a ridge dominating through
Queensland. An upper level trough moving in from the west during Saturday will
increase cloud in the south, with possible showers. Fine elsewhere. Remaining
cool generally, with frost areas through parts of the interior.

Sunday.
