Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 5/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards northeastern New South Wales. A low pressure trough near the southwest corner of the state will move towards the east during the weekend, bringing showers or rain to many areas. A low is then expected to develop over the western Tasman Sea during Sunday in response to an approaching upper level trough. There is currently a high level of uncertainty with regards to the position of the developing low, and this will influence the distribution of rainfall across the region.
Forecast for the rest of FridayPatchy rain in the southwest, mainly near the Victorian border. Fine elsewhere. Northeast to northwest winds, turning westerly in the southwest.Saturday 6 AugustFine about the north coast, and in the northwest. Isolated showers elsewhere in the north. Rain areas moving across southern and central parts, particularly over the southern inland, with snow developing on the Alps late in the day. The chance of thunderstorms across the southern inland. Patchy morning fog. North to northwest winds tending northeasterly along the coast in the afternoon.Sunday 7 AugustAreas of rain in the northeast, easing. Fine in the northwest. Showers elsewhere, tending scattered across the south in the afternoon, and falling as snow showers on the southern ranges. The chance of thunderstorms across the south. South to southwesterly winds extending throughout, and strengthening on the south coast.Monday 8 AugustIsolated showers across southern and central parts, tending scattered over the southeast. South to southeast winds on the south coast. Westerly winds elsewhere.Tuesday 9 AugustIsolated showers over the south and east, tending scattered in the far southeast.
