Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 4/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will maintain a ridge towards northeastern New South Wales until Saturday. A cold front extending northwards from a complex low system south of the Bight is expected to weaken as it approaches southeastern Australia and slip to the south of Tasmania on Thursday. A broad low pressure trough is expected to reach the far southwest late on Friday, then gradually move across the state during the weekend with a low developing off the South Coast on Sunday which is expected to deepen and drift north early next week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayPatchy rain developing in the southwest. Morning fog and inland frost patches, chiefly in the northeast. Fine elsewhere. North to northwest winds, turning westerly in the southwest.Saturday 6 AugustFine about the coast in the north. Rain periods over much of the remainder, particularly over the southern inland. Snow showers developing on the Alps. Patchy morning fog, mostly in the far southwest and in the northeast. North to northwest winds tending southwesterly in the south and west later.Sunday 7 AugustScattered showers for much of the state. Rain, heavy at times on the south coast and adjacent ranges. Snow showers on the southern ranges. South to southwesterly winds extending throughout, and strengthening on the south coast.Monday 8 AugustShowers over the eastern half, grading to rain, heavy at times over the southeast. Strong south to southeast winds on the south coast. Westerly to southerly winds elsewhere.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.Product IDN10031
