Bowen.

Weather Situation
A slow moving high [1027 hPa] lies over the Tasman Sea and extends a ridge
over the east coast of Queensland. The high is expected to strengthen slightly
over the next couple of days.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday
Isolated showers along the northeast tropical coast. Isolated light showers
along the Fraser and central coasts. Early morning fog patches over eastern
districts. Fine elsewhere. Early morning frosts about the southeast interior. A
Very High fire danger in the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders District. A
warm day over western districts with moderate N to NE winds. Light to moderate
SE to NE winds elsewhere, fresh at times along the coast north of Fraser
Island.
Forecast for Thursday
The high is expected to strengthen slightly over the central Tasman Sea,
reinforcing the ridge along the east Queensland coast. Isolated showers will
occur along the east coast north of Fraser Island in the onshore wind flow,
becoming more frequent along the northeast tropical coast during the day.
Conditions will remain fine elsewhere, with isolated early morning frosts over
the southeast interior. Daytime temperatures will remain above average in the
west and through the southern interior.
Forecast for Friday
The high is expected to drift slowly east over the Tasman Sea and start to
weaken, gradually relaxing the ridge. Isolated showers will occur along the
east coast north of Fraser Island in the onshore wind flow, more scattered along
the northeast tropical coast. Isolated light afternoon showers will also develop
over the eastern interior and southeast districts as moisture spreads inland.
Remaining fine elsewhere over the interior, though cloud will increase in the
far southwest late in the day as a surface trough approaches. Early light frost
will possibly occur on the Granite Belt.
Forecast for Saturday
The surface trough will most likely move slowly east over southwestern
Queensland, producing isolated showers and possible afternoon thunderstorms over
the Channel Country and southwestern Maranoa and Warrego districts. The high
will drift further east over the Tasman Sea, with the ridge relaxing further.
Moist E to NE winds ahead of the trough will result in isolated showers over
eastern and central parts of the state, more scattered along the northeast
tropical coast. Conditions should remain mostly fine along the southeast coast
due to a drier N'ly wind flow.
Outlook for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
Some uncertainty exists with the movement of the surface trough but at this
stage the most likely scenario is for it to move east across southern Queensland
on Sunday, generating showers and possible isolated thunderstorms over southern
districts before contracting offshore early Monday. Isolated showers could
persist over the southeastern corner of the state in the wake of this trough
depending on the movement of an upper level system over eastern New South Wales.
Shower activity should gradually decrease over the eastern tropics as the wind
flow tends a drier S'ly.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Wednesday.
