Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 2/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards Queensland. Cold fronts extending northwards from a complex low system south of the Bight are weakening as they approach southeastern Australia and slipping to the south of Tasmania. This pattern is expected to persist today and Thursday. At the end of the week, a low is expected to move further northwards bring some rain to the far southwest of New South Wales, extending east during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayEarly fog and frost patches, chiefly in the northeast. The chance of a few isolated showers on the central western slopes but fine and mostly sunny over most of the state. Light to moderate northeast to northwest winds, fresh across parts of the west and south.Thursday 4 AugustEarly fog and frost patches, chiefly in the northeast, then fine. Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds in the west and south, tending light to moderate northwest to northeasterly in the northeast.Friday 5 AugustIsolated showers developing in the far west, becoming scattered in the far southwest later. Fine elsewhere. North to northwest winds, turning westerly in the southwest.Saturday 6 AugustFine about the coast and ranges north from Sydney. Showers over much of the remainder, particularly about the southwest slopes of the ranges. North to northwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
