Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 2/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will continue to direct a mild northwesterly airflow over Victoria until Thursday. A cold front to the west will slide southeastwards just brushing southwestern Victoria tonight. A stronger cold front is expected to reach western Victoria on Thursday and will move slowly eastwards during Friday. An associated low pressure system is expected to move across the State during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers about the west coast tonight. Dry and mild elsewhere.Wednesday 3 AugustMild to warm and mostly sunny with moderate to fresh northerly winds. Patchy rain reaching the far southwest at night.Thursday 4 AugustA band of rain developing over the southwest gradually extending to the northwest, and reaching Melbourne at night. Mild to warm over central and eastern districts but cooler over the southwest. Fresh to locally strong north to northwesterly winds becoming light and variable in the rain.Friday 5 AugustRain extending to central districts, but easing to showers over the southwest. Isolated showers developing over the east. Generally cool with generally light to moderate northerly winds.Saturday 6 AugustRain gradually contracting eastwards, with isolated showers to follow. Snowfalls developing above 1700 metres. Cool to cold with variable winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
