Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 1/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will continue to direct a mild northwesterly airflow over Victoria until Thursday. Meanwhile a cold front will cross the Bight today but slide southeastwards just brushing southwestern Victoria this evening. A stronger cold front is expected to reach Victoria on Thursday with an associated low pressure system expected to remain to the southwest of Victoria during Friday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers in the east this morning, contracting east and clearing by early afternoon. The chance of an early thunderstorm over Gippsland. Isolated showers and the chance of a thunderstorm redeveloping during the afternoon, mainly affecting southwest Victoria. A mild to warm day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 3 AugustMild to warm and mostly dry with moderate to fresh northerly winds. Isolated showers about the eastern ranges clearing during the morning. Patchy rain reaching the southwest at night.Thursday 4 AugustA band of rain developing over the west gradually extending to central districts by evening. Isolated showers developing over the northeast and remaining dry over East Gippsland. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly wind.Friday 5 AugustRain extending to eastern districts, but easing to showers over the west. Generally cool with generally light to moderate northerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
