Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 31/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will continue to direct a mild northwesterly airflow over Victoria until Wednesday. In the meantime a series of cold fronts will cross the Bight but slide southeastwards just brushing southwestern Victoria. A stronger cold front is expected to reach Victoria on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayMorning fog patches in the northeast. Scattered showers developing in the southwest and central districts, with the risk of afternoon thunderstorms in the southwest. Isolated showers in most other areas but remaining fine over East Gippsland. A mild day with cloud increasing in the west and a moderate to fresh north to northwesterly wind.Tuesday 2 AugustIsolated showers in the southwest becoming scattered in the afternoon. The chance of showers in remaining southern and mountain areas, mainly late in the day. Fine in the northwest. A Mild to warm day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 3 AugustIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas, although remaining fine in East Gippsland. Showers becoming more extensive in the southwest at night. A mild to warm and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Thursday 4 AugustAreas of rain gradually extending from the west but little if any rain reaching East Gippsland. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly wind.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Monday.Product IDV10310
