Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 29/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred over the NSW coast will drift slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea during the weekend to be near New Zealand by Monday. A cold front will approach western Victoria Friday night before weakening as it moves across Tasmania on Saturday. Another cold front will cross waters south of the Bight Sunday night to reach southwest Victoria late Monday before yet another cold front approaches southwestern Victoria later on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayPatchy rain contracting to the east. Isolated showers to follow in the south contracting to the west coast towards evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the far southwest late afternoon. Generally mild day with moderate northerly winds shifting northwest to westerly later in the west.Sunday 31 JulyIsolated showers over the northeast and southwest but fine over remaining districts. Generally mild with moderate to locally fresh northwest to northerly winds.Monday 1 AugustIsolated showers mainly about the northeast ranges and over the southwest. Generally mild with moderate to locally fresh northwest to northerly winds.Tuesday 2 AugustScattered showers over the ranges and southwest. Isolated showers elsewhere.
