Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 28/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred over the NSW coast will drift slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea during today and over the weekend to be near New Zealand by Monday. A cold front will approach western Victoria Friday night, weakening as it moves across Tasmania on Saturday. The next front will cross waters south of the Bight Sunday night to reach southwest Victoria late Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayLocal early morning frost in the north and east and isolated fog patches in the northeast. A fine and generally mild and sunny day at first but cloud increasing from the west this afternoon with patchy rain developing at night over western districts. Moderate to locally fresh northeast to northwest winds.Saturday 30 JulyPatchy rain spreading to most districts, but clearing later in the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the far west late afternoon. Generally mild day with moderate northerly winds shifting northwest to westerly later in the west. Snowfalls possible on the higher Alpine peaks.Sunday 31 JulyPatchy rain over the northeast at first clearing. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the southwest but fine over remaining districts. Generally mild with moderate to locally fresh northwest to northerly winds.Monday 1 AugustIsolated showers mainly about the northeast ranges and over the southwest.
