MELBOURNE - Jul 27/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred over northeast Victoria is drifting eastwards and will become centred over the Tasman Sea by Thursday night. The high will remain over the Tasman Sea during Friday and Saturday before heading towards New Zealand on Sunday. A cold front will approach western Victoria later on Friday, weakening as it moves across Tasmania later on Saturday. The next front will cross waters south of the Bight Sunday night. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated fogs redeveloping in the east tonight. Fine elsewhere.Thursday 28 JulyLocal morning fog and areas of frost, mainly in the east. A fine, cool to mild day and mostly sunny day although patchy high cloud developing over the west. Moderate to locally fresh northerly winds.Friday 29 JulyLocal early morning fog and frost in the east then a fine and generally mild day. Patchy rain developing at night in the west.Saturday 30 JulyPatchy rain spreading to most districts, but clearing later in the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the far southwest. Generally mild day with moderate northerly winds shifting northwest to westerly later in the west. Snowfalls possible on the higher Alpine peaks.Sunday 31 JulyPatchy rain over the northeast at first clearing. Isolated showers and possible morning thunderstorms over the southwest but fine over remaining districts.
