Strait to Cardwell.
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A slow moving high over the Great Australian Bight extends a weak ridge over
southern Queensland. The high is expected to drift slowly east over the next few
days, and arrive over the Tasman Sea on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Fine over the state except for some isolated showers about the northeast and
central coasts. Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh at times about the
Torres Strait and the northeast coast.
Forecast for Wednesday
The high should drift over Victoria, and the associated onshore flow should
maintain isolated showers about the northeast and central coasts. Fine
conditions will persist elsewhere, with patchy areas of early morning frost
continuing over the central and southeast interior. Light to moderate SE to NE
winds, fresh at times about the Torres Strait and the northeast coast.
Forecast for Thursday
The high should move slowly east and lie off the New South Wales coast by
Thursday evening. A ridge should persist over the east coast of Queensland,
which will maintain the fresh to strong E to SE winds about the central and
northeast coasts. Isolated showers in the onshore flow along the entire east
coast, more frequent along the northeast tropical coast between Cairns and
Townsville. Conditions will remain fine elsewhere with patchy early morning
frosts over the central and southeast interior. Light to moderate SE to NE
winds, fresh at times about the Torres Strait and the northeast coast.
Forecast for Friday
The high should drift into the central parts of the Tasman Sea whilst
maintaining at least a fresh onshore wind flow about the east coast. The
onshore winds should produce mainly isolated showers about the east coast,
extending into nearby inland areas during the afternoon and evening. Fine over
the rest of the state. Patchy and mainly light early morning frost areas about
the southeast interior.
Forecast for Saturday
The high should drift slowly towards the eastern reaches of the Tasman Sea
during Saturday, maintaining the onshore flow and showers along Queensland's
east coast and nearby inland areas. Fine over the rest of the state. Patchy and
mainly light early morning frost areas about the southeast interior.
Outlook for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
The high should remain over the eastern reaches of the Tasman Sea during the
outlook period, maintaining at least isolated showers along the east coast and
nearby inland areas in the onshore wind flow. Conditions should remain fine
elsewhere over the interior. Just the chance of some patchy, mainly light
morning frost areas about the southeast interior.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Wednesday.
