MELBOURNE - Jul 25/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A slow moving high over the Great Australian Bight extends a weak ridge over southern Queensland into the southern Coral Sea. The high will slowly east move and enter over the Tasman Sea by late Thursday. Forecast for the rest of Tuesday Isolated showers about the northeast and central coasts, tending scattered about the North Tropical Coast. Early morning frosts over the central and southeast interior. Forecast for Wednesday The high should drift towards the southeast coast, and the associated onshore flow should maintain isolated showers about the northeast and central coasts. Fine conditions will persist elsewhere, with areas of early morning frost continuing over the central and southeast interior. Forecast for Thursday The high will move slowly east into the Tasman Sea, maintaining the ridge over the east coast of Queensland. Fresh to strong E to SE winds will produce isolated showers about the northeast tropics and central coast, more frequent along the northeast tropical coast between Cairns and Townsville. Freshening SE'ly winds will increase shower potential elsewhere along the east coast. Conditions will remain fine elsewhere with early morning frosts over the central and southeast interior. Forecast for Friday The high should drift into the central parts of the Tasman Sea, whilst maintaining at least a fresh onshore wind flow about the east coast. The onshore winds should produce mainly isolated showers about the east coast, extending into nearby inland areas during the afternoon and evening. Fine over the rest of the state. Patchy early morning frost areas about the southeast interior. Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday The high will move slowly east over the Tasman Sea during the outlook period. The ridge along the east coast should weaken late weekend as the high approaches New Zealand. Isolated showers will continue along the east coast and adjacent inland in the onshore wind flow. Conditions should remain fine elsewhere over the interior. Patchy morning frost areas about the southeast interior. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST Tuesday.
