MELBOURNE - Jul 23/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system south of Tasmania extends a ridge to western New South Wales, while a complex low pressure system lies over the northeastern Tasman Sea. The low is moving slowly to the east and is expected to be near New Zealand by later Saturday. During this time the ridge will become broader across southeast Australia, establishing itself as the dominant synoptic feature over the following days. A weak trough is forecast to move across southern districts during Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayMorning frost about the ranges and parts of the far west. Isolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges tending scattered about parts of the central coast. Fine and mostly sunny remainder. Southeast to southwest winds, fresh along the coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Sunday 24 JulyMorning frost about the ranges and western slopes. Isolated coastal showers along the coast, tending scattered about the Hunter at first. The chance of showers over the southwest inland. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds, becoming light and variable inland. Dangerous surf conditions easing.Monday 25 JulyIsolated showers over the southwest and central inland. Fine elsewhere. Mainly northwest to southwest winds.Tuesday 26 JulyIsolated showers about the southwest slopes, and the chance of showers on the far northern coast. Fine elsewhere.
