MELBOURNE - Jul 21/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system south of Tasmania extends a ridge to western New South Wales, while a complex low pressure system lies over the central Tasman Sea. The low is moving slowly to the east and is expected to be near New Zealand by early Saturday. By this time the ridge will become broader across southeast Australia, becoming the dominant synoptic feature during the following days. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers along the coast and adjacent ranges, more frequent and heavier on the coastal fringe. Isolated showers on the western slopes of the ranges. Snow showers on the Alps. Fine in the far west. Southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh to strong and gusty near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Friday 22 JulyScattered showers on the coast and adjacent ranges, more frequent and heavier in central parts. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds, fresh and gusty near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Saturday 23 JulyIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges tending scattered on the central parts of the coast. Fine and mostly sunny remainder.
