Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 20/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system off the central New South Wales coast is gradually deepening while a strengthening high pressure system is to the south of Tasmania. The low and the high pressure systems will be slow moving until Friday, then the low will gradually move away to the east. On Saturday the high pressure system will extend a weak ridge across Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas over Gippsland with some heavy falls. Isolated showers or drizzle patches over remaining southern and mountain districts. Snowfalls above about 1600 metres. Local morning fog about the ranges and over the northeast. Fine over the northern plains. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly wind, strong in the southeast.Thursday 21 JulyWidespread rain over Gippsland with locally heavy falls. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, increasing over the Central district during the afternoon. Snowfalls above about 1600 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly wind, strong in the southeast.Friday 22 JulyRain in East Gippsland with showers over West and South Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern and mountain districts. Snowfalls above 1700 metres. Cool to cold with a moderate to fresh southeasterly wind.Saturday 23 JulyScattered showers in Gippsland slowly easing from the west. Fine elsewhere apart from isolated showers later in the west. A cool day with light east to northeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
