MELBOURNE - Jul 18/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weakening low pressure trough is drifting through eastern Victoria. A low pressure system is expected to form off the central New South Wales coast on Tuesday while a high pressure system over the Bight will move south of Tasmania. The low and the high pressure systems will be slow moving for the rest of the week. Forecast for the rest of MondayRain areas in the east. Scattered showers in remaining southern areas. Isolated showers elsewhere. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the northeast. Snowfalls above 1000 metres. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.Tuesday 19 JulyShowers in southern and mountain areas becoming isolated in the west during the afternoon but increasing to rain in Gippsland later in the day with locally heavy falls. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Snowfalls above about 1400 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southerly wind strengthening near the Gippsland coast.Wednesday 20 JulyRain areas in Gippsland with locally heavy falls. Isolated showers in remaining southern and mountain districts, Snowfalls above about 1600 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly wind, strong in the southeast.Thursday 21 JulyWidespread rain in Gippsland with locally heavy falls. Isolated showers in remaining southern and mountain districts, Snowfalls above about 1600 metres.
