MELBOURNE - Jul 12/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A vigorous west to southwesterly airstream will persist over Bass Strait tonight and Wednesday as another cold front moves eastwards across southern Victoria. A high pressure system will remain south of the Bight during Wednesday, then move eastwards across Bass Strait during Thursday night and Friday, to be located just east of Tasmania during Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas, more widespread near the coast and northeast ranges, falling as snow above 1300 metres. Cool and mostly cloudy with moderate westerly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Wednesday 13 JulyScattered showers, mainly near the coast and eastern ranges, becoming more isolated from the west during the day and contracting to the south later. Local hail possible near the southeast coast. Snow falls above 1300 metres, lowering to 1000 metres during the day. Cool to cold and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh west to southwest winds easing from the west during the afternoon and evening and tending more southerly.Thursday 14 JulyIsolated showers in the south clearing during the day. Early fog and frost patches inland. A cool and partly cloudy day with a light to moderate southeast to southwesterly wind.Friday 15 JulyFine after morning fog and frost patches. A cool and mostly sunny day with light to moderate east to southeasterly winds.Saturday 16 JulyFine apart from morning fog and frost patches, and isolated showers possible in the northwest.
