Strong SE winds continuing across the tropics. Light to moderate SE to SW winds over the remainder of the state, fresh about the southeast early. Strong SE winds occurring over northeast tropical waters. Forecast for Thursday The high builds slightly over southeastern Australia as winds turn more easterly about the Queensland east coast with showers extending south to the Fraser Coast. As the upper level trough approaches Queensland, high cloud will thicken over the west and through southern districts with patchy light rain over the Channel Country and Warrego. Isolated early frost over the southeast interior, reducing further due to building high cloud. Strong winds persisting over northeast tropical waters. Outlook for Friday, Saturday and Sunday Friday, the southern high moves southeast of Victoria and intensifies slightly while the upper level trough enters western Queensland and develops rain areas over much of the state, clearing the west late in the day. Isolated showers in the far north and initially about eastern districts. Saturday, rain areas contract to eastern districts with isolated showers remaining through central parts as the upper trough moves east across Queensland. Sunday, rain areas clear the east coast as the upper trough moves offshore. Isolated showers to remain over eastern districts in a moist airmass.
