Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 7/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system south of New Zealand is combining with a high to the south of W.A to bring a vigorous west to southwesterly airstream over Victoria. Further cold fronts will affect the State over coming days with the next front expected to reach southwest Victoria late today before moving across Bass Strait at night. Another front will cross the state on Sunday. The high pressure system will then move slowly eastwards to ridge across the Bight on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayWidespread morning frost over the inland areas, locally severe. Isolated showers extending from the southwest to most southern and mountain areas during the day, becoming more widespread in the south and about the east ranges later. Isolated showers extending to the northern plains during the afternoon. Snowfalls down to 1200 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh westerly winds, stronger about the coast.Saturday 9 JulyMorning frost in the northeast. Isolated showers over most southern and mountain areas falling as snow above 1200 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh westerly winds, stronger about the coast.Sunday 10 JulyScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, extending to the northern inland and becoming widespread about the coast and east ranges during the afternoon. Snow on the Alps. Cold with fresh to strong west to northwest winds shifting southwesterly during the day.Monday 11 JulyMorning frost patches in the northeast. Isolated showers on and south of the ranges and the chance of a shower extending to the northern inland areas during the afternoon. Cold with fresh and gusty southwest winds, strong at first in the southeast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.Product IDV10310
