MELBOURNE - Jul 4/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deep low west of Tasmania with an associated cold front moving into Victoria. A high pressure system to the southwest of WA. The high is expected to remain stationary for most of the week, with a series of cold fronts moving through southeast Australia from the Southern Ocean. These fronts will maintain cold conditions and strong to gale force winds through much of central and southern New South Wales through the week. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers on and west of the ranges, more widespread on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow on the Alps. West to northwest winds, fresh to strong and gusty in the west and southeast.Tuesday 5 JulyIsolated showers on and west of the ranges in the south, tending scattered on the southwestern slopes. Snow, heavy at times, above about 900 metres in the south and also on the higher parts of the Central Tablelands. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Fresh to strong westerly winds reaching gale force in central and southern parts of the ranges and coast.Wednesday 6 JulyScattered showers about the western slopes of the southern ranges, more isolated on the adjacent districts. Snow, heavy at times, above about 1200 metres in the south and also about the higher parts of the Central and Southern Tablelands. Mostly sunny remainder. Fresh to strong westerly winds, squally about the southern and central ranges.Thursday 7 JulyIsolated showers about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges, tending scattered in the south with snow down to low levels at first. Snow, heavy at times, above about 800 metres in the south and also about the higher parts of the Central and Southern Tablelands. Fresh to strong west to southwesterly windsFriday 8 JulyIsolated showers over the southern inland, mostly on the western slopes of the southern ranges, falling as snow above about 1200 metres.
