MELBOURNE - Jul 3/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
Nil.
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A ridge of higher pressure is weakening about the east coast of Queensland. A
trough is moving east across western Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Isolated showers persisting about the northeast tropical coast, decreasing
about the central coast. Dry over the interior apart from a little patchy rain
near southern border this morning. Early frost over the southeast interior.
Light to moderate SE to E winds about the east coast, fresh in the tropics.
Light to moderate NE to NW winds inland before a W to SW change from the
west.
Forecast for Tuesday
A new ridge of higher pressure develops across the interior of Queensland
from the west, following the trough passage. The trough has cleared the
southeast coast early and now moves north along the Capricorn coast. Generally
cool and dry over the state, isolated showers remaining in the northeast
tropics. A little early drizzle or frost over the Granite Belt. Freshening SW
winds over the southeast region.
Forecast for Wednesday
The high remains slow moving southwest of Perth, maintaining the ridge
through central Queensland. Cool and dry conditions generally across the state
with a large area of early frost over the southern and southeast interior. The
coastal trough now moving into the northeast tropics, maintaining the shower
activity in this region. Strong SE winds developing over the southern Gulf
following the trough passage.
Forecast for Thursday
The ridge of higher pressure persists across central Queensland and a cold
front moves through N.S.W approaching southern Queensland with freshening W to
SW winds. Winds will increase further to strong wind force over the southeast
later in the day. Strong SE winds over the southern Gulf again and now
developing about the NE tropical coast. Dry over the state with extensive early
frost over the southeast and southern interior. Showers persisting about the
northeast tropical coast.
Outlook for Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Friday, the ridge axis moves further south in the wake of the dry cold front
passage and reduces the winds over southern Queensland. This expands the early
frost to most of the interior including the southern tropics. Strong winds and
isolated showers remaining in the northeast tropics. Much the same pattern for
Saturday and Sunday with the ridge axis over southern Queensland. Showers in the
northeast tropics and developing about the central coast, dry over the interior
with widespread early frost.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Monday.
