Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 3/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system south of the Bight will move eastwards to approach southwest Victoria tonight and then be south of Tasmania by Monday night. A series of strong cold fronts will then move across the state during the week with the first front arriving overnight Monday and moving across Victoria during Tuesday, followed by a second front on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayAreas of rain contracting through the north and northeast of the State overnight and just patchy rain extending southwards to Gippsland. Isolated showers about the southwest coast and the chance of a thunderstorm. Snowfalls in the Alps above 1700m. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds, stronger about the ranges.Monday 4 JulyScattered showers, more frequent in the southwest and on the ranges with snowfalls lowering to 1200m. Isolated showers extending to the northwest inland during the afternoon. A cool to cold day with cloudy periods. Strengthening west to northwest winds, reaching gale force at times in the south and southwest and along the ranges.Tuesday 5 JulyScattered showers with local hail in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1200m. Isolated showers in the northwest. Cold with fresh to strong and squally west to southwesterly winds extending throughout, reaching gale force along the ranges and near the coast.Wednesday 6 JulyMostly cloudy with scattered showers, more widespread in the southwest and on the east ranges and tending to rain areas during the day. Local hail in the south and east and snowfalls lowing to 900m. A cold day with fresh to strong and gusty west to northwest winds tending southwesterly and reaching gale force at times on the ranges.Thursday 7 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges, more widespread along the coast and possible extending to northern inland areas during the afternoon. Snowfalls down to 800m. Cold with moderate to fresh west to southwest winds, strong at times about the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Monday.Product IDV10310
